Aircraft and defense parts specialist KP Aero Industries is set to be listed on the KOSDAQ market this coming May amid growing market expectations for the aerospace industry. With the recent government policy to foster the aerospace industry and expectations for the listing of US-based SpaceX converging, the so-called 'Aerospace Renaissance' has arrived, drawing attention to whether this favorable atmosphere will continue until the time of the listing.
Unrivaled Technology with 36 Years of Experience... A Portfolio Encompassing Aviation, Defense, and Space
Established in 1990, KP Aero Industries has built 36 years of experience, expanding its business portfolio from the production of aviation jigs and fixtures to aircraft fuselage structures, defense guided weapon molds, and space launch vehicle structures. It has secured major global aerospace companies as clients, including Korean Air, Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI), Boeing, Airbus, and Spirit AeroSystems. In particular, it boasts unrivaled technological prowess, manufacturing core fuselage structures for global best-selling models such as the A350 and B787, and developing Korea's first 50m-class automated jig for KAI's A320 wing production.
In the defense sector, it produces core guided weapon system components such as the Cheongung-II and Hyunmoo, and in the space sector, it participated in manufacturing the fuselage structures for the Naro and Nuri space launch vehicles. Its performance is also on a steep upward trend. Revenue, which was 34.6 billion won in 2023, improved significantly to 49.7 billion won in 2024, while operating profit surged from 800 million won to 3.5 billion won. Furthermore, since there are no financial investors (FI), friendly shares held by the owner family and defense partner SpacePro are expected to remain above 60% even after the listing, indicating that concerns over an overhang (potential sell-off volume) post-listing are relatively low.
Entering KOSDAQ in May via SPAC Merger... OTC Corporate Value Also Rises
The listing will be conducted through an absorption-type merger with NH Special Purpose Acquisition 30 (NH SPAC 30). The merger ratio has been confirmed at 1 to 0.1672381, and the company plans to complete its KOSDAQ listing in May following a general shareholders' meeting to approve the merger on the upcoming March 24th. Out of approximately 19.6 billion won in funds flowing in through the SPAC merger, over 11 billion won will be primarily utilized as funding for factory facilities at its Vietnam subsidiary.
A notable point is the positive evaluation from the market. Initially, KP Aero Industries was valued at an expected post-merger market capitalization in the 90 billion won range when pushing for the SPAC listing. However, after passing the preliminary listing review, the strength of the aerospace theme was added, spreading the perception that it was relatively undervalued, and the stock price of NH SPAC 30 surged when trading resumed. Furthermore, the stock is consistently traded in the over-the-counter (OTC) market, with its corporate value trading in the 110 to 120 billion won range as of last week.
KP Aero Industries Standing in the Midst of the 'Space IPO Golden Time'
Currently, the capital market is re-evaluating the aerospace industry not merely as a simple theme, but as a mid-to-long-term growth sector and a core strategic industry capable of generating actual revenue. In fact, the stock prices of peer aerospace startups such as INNOSPACE, Contec, and Lumir have rebounded by more than 100% over the past three months, proving the market's explosive interest. At the center of this 'Space IPO Golden Time', the attention of aerospace industry insiders and investors is focused on the steps of KP Aero Industries, which has proven both its performance and fundamentals.
