'H-Energy' Changes the Solar Landscape with AI, Taking a Breather After Record-Breaking Earnings

H-Energy, which innovated the solar power generation market from a traditional 'construction site' focus to an IT data and platform base, has begun full-fledged preparations for an initial public offering (IPO). H-Energy achieved explosive external growth by building a platform where anyone can easily invest in renewable energy, but as its profit growth has recently slowed somewhat, coordinating the timing of its listing to receive optimal corporate valuation has emerged as the biggest topic.

AI Technology Catching 'Invisible Losses'… Connecting the Energy Ecosystem

Founded in 2018, H-Energy operates the solar roof leasing platform 'Solar Share', the energy investment platform 'Mohat', and the AI-based power plant customized subscription service 'Solar On Care', connecting the fragmented renewable energy industry into one.

In particular, its core competitive edge, 'Solar On Care', boasts an AI diagnostic technology that remotely analyzes the condition of power plants 24 hours a day and detects abnormal signs in advance. Going beyond simple monitoring, it independently infers the physical structure of the power plant and classifies types of failures, currently managing over 5,000 solar power plants nationwide and establishing an unrivaled position in the market. Based on such technological prowess, it is building a distributed energy ecosystem where individuals produce and consume electricity.

Becoming a '100 Billion Won Venture Enterprise' in 6 Years… Taking a Breather in 2025 After Record-Breaking Earnings in 2024

Looking at H-Energy's financial indicators, the explosive growth achieved in a short period since its establishment stands out. According to Pitchdeck, a startup data specialized company, the performance surged from 22.3 billion won in sales and 500 million won in operating profit in 2022 to 75.4 billion won in sales and 6 billion won in operating profit in 2023. Subsequently, in 2024, it recorded sales of 102.3 billion won, an operating profit of 14.8 billion won, and a net profit of 10.4 billion won, achieving its highest-ever performance, and accomplishing the feat of joining the ranks of '100 Billion Won Venture Enterprises' hosted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups just six years after its founding.

However, entering 2025, sales slightly decreased year-on-year to 95.6 billion won, and operating profit and net profit significantly dropped to 5.1 billion won and 5.7 billion won respectively, indicating a somewhat slowed profitability. The steeply upward-trending sales and profit curves appear to have entered a temporary breather phase.

Likely Agonizing Over Maximizing Corporate Value Amidst the Selection of an IPO Underwriter

H-Energy recently selected KB Securities as its lead underwriter and began preparations for a listing on the KOSDAQ market. The company has solidified its fundamentals over the years by receiving infusions of funds from numerous institutions.

Multiple media reports indicate that H-Energy received a 40 billion won Pre-IPO (Series C) investment led by STIC Investments and others in 2024. Unlike the 40 billion won scale reported in the articles, the actual amount raised during the 2024 Pre-IPO is estimated at 34 billion won, with the corporate valuation assessed at the time in the 130 billion won range, and the company's total cumulative investment attracted is understood to be approximately 41 billion won.

While accelerating its IPO after being recognized for a valuation of over 130 billion won like this, the decrease in sales and profit in 2025 will inevitably act as a burden in calculating the public offering price. To draw out the optimal corporate valuation, the company must dispel concerns over the profit slowdown and prove a blueprint for a performance rebound to the market, which is expected to entail the management's agony over the timing of the listing.

Steady External Growth and Launching Global Expansion

Although the profit and loss indicators for 2025 faltered somewhat, H-Energy is constantly discovering new revenue models, such as expanding B2B investments and entering the virtual power plant (VPP) market. In addition, armed with its advanced software (SaaS) capabilities, it is also launching global expansion by entering Japan's new electric power market and preparing an energy storage system (ESS) rental business.

By innovating the inefficiencies of the early market with data and AI, it is a company with potential that has steadily increased the scale of its sales and profits since its establishment, making it a company worth watching continuously to see how it will overcome the temporary stagnation in performance and take another leap forward through its listing.
