Hyundai Engineering Receives 3-Month Business Suspension for Civil Engineering and Building Construction from Seoul Metropolitan Government

Hyundai Engineering announced on July 22, 2026, that it received a 3-month business suspension for its civil engineering and building construction business from the Seoul Metropolitan Government due to the occurrence of a severe industrial accident under the Occupational Safety and Health Act.

The effective date of the business suspension is August 5, 2026. The recent sales revenue of the civil engineering and building construction business subject to the suspension is 5 trillion 541 billion 28.52 million won, which amounts to 39.9% of the recent total sales revenue (13 trillion 896.5 billion won) based on the consolidated financial statements for 2025.

This administrative measure was taken by the Seoul Metropolitan Government based on Article 82, Paragraph 1, Subparagraph 7 of the Framework Act on the Construction Industry, among others.

Hyundai Engineering stated, "We plan to respond to the business suspension by filing an application for an injunction to suspend execution and a lawsuit to cancel the administrative measure," adding, "If the injunction is granted, there will be no impact on business activities until the court's ruling on the cancellation lawsuit."

In addition, it added that construction projects for which contract agreements were signed or those that had already commenced after obtaining permissions and authorizations according to the law prior to the administrative measure can continue to be executed.
