Generative AI Seismic Shift... Google 'Gemini' Grows Threefold Amid ChatGPT's Dominance... DeepSeek Halved

While OpenAI's 'ChatGPT' maintained an overwhelming first place in the global generative artificial intelligence (AI) web traffic market this year, Google's 'Gemini' solidified its second-place position, showing a nearly threefold growth compared to the beginning of the year.

According to data from Similarweb, a global web traffic analysis site, on the 22nd, an analysis of the traffic share of major generative AI websites from January to November 2025 showed that ChatGPT recorded a 74.25% share as of November. Although this is a 4.34 percentage point decrease compared to last January (78.59%), it still demonstrated unrivaled dominance by controlling three-quarters of the market.

The most remarkable growth was seen in Google's Gemini. Gemini remained at a mere 5.64% share last January, but soared to 14.95% in November. By raising its share by 9.31 percentage points in less than a year, it effectively established its position as the sole viable challenger in the market.

On the other hand, China's 'DeepSeek' showed a clear downward trend. DeepSeek, which had a double-digit share of 12.79% in January, plummeted to 5.35% in November, seeing its share halved. This is interpreted as being influenced by Gemini's rapid advancement and intensifying competition.

'Grok', released by Elon Musk's xAI, started with a negligible share of 0.02% in January but entered the market by rising to 2.53% in November. The search-centric AI engine 'Perplexity' showed a sideways trend, maintaining a share of less than 3% with no significant change from 2.96% in January to 2.91% in November.

The industry analyzes that while ChatGPT's solo run continues, a two-way rivalry is being formed as the pace of Google Gemini's pursuit accelerates.
